- Don't... I, too, thought it was the way we had to be with each other. But I was wrong-- I can't take it anymore. I've been so lonely all this time. Leaving the plains... And you, my best friend treating me like a noble stranger. What does rank and birth have to do with anything? I'm still myself, and you're still you! Please, talk to me normally, like you always used to.
- Lyndis...Lyn... I...I'm sorry. I had no idea you felt that way...
- I do, and someday when I return to the plains... Come with me, won't you? I may not be able to pay you like I do now... But I would like you with me, Florina, as a friend.
Oh my god... I think the Support Conversations are what gives Fire Emblem the most depth, and they show us that they're not just faceless soldiers. But people... Who... have stories that make me just... *Flips a table*
Thank you! I really appreciate all your faves and thoughtful comments; it means a lot to me that you're taking the time to leave these messages--it's nice to receive such positive feedback from someone that I know cares deeply about the game and has devoted so much thought to it. Lyn and Florina's relationship is my favorite in the whole game and I'm really glad I was able to pay it tribute here.
Aw, well, I appreciate your taking the time to do so! I have this concept of your far-off corner of fandom being this intriguing but mystifying distant Mecca of Fandom Theorists so it's always nice when someone comes down among us commoners to offer words of wisdom.
Aww, I'm sorry if we seem that aloof! Really, it's mostly a bunch of glorified flailing around about stuff we like and/or have ideas about. Like I recently wrote a 3K word thing that basically boiled down to saying that Roy is a nerd. But I totally get that it seems like you have to formulate big long essays to get your point across, and that can be intimidating. Fwiw, I think you'd fare pretty well doing meta!
Haha, I'm sure; that's pretty much what all fandom debate boils down to. (Also, Roy probably is a nerd. Though I am afraid that, having read certain SSB fancomics prior to actually playing FE6, when I found out how relatively weak he was for a lord character I was always imagining him racing all over the battlefield accidentally running into trees and jumping off cliffs...) Also, thank you, haha. I'm actually well aware of my ability to do fandom essays, it's just that I avoid it because it would feel like being in English class again. I guess I feel like people are more critical of written contributions to fandom and also that slinging opinions back and forth gets tiring once you've hashed out where everyone stands and no one's mind is going to be changed, so I would rather spend my fandom time drawing pictures that make a lot of people smile or laugh as opposed to the few people who care enough to read an essay. But I do appreciate it when I get an opportunity to talk about characters in more depth than I get into with most artists, so this is pleasant.
Yeah, I definitely understand that sentiment. For my part I try and make contributions that are less argumentative than helpful to other writers.
Yeah, Roy's got the combined factors of being really really smart and curious with being super perfectionist and analytical and also socially awkward. Which would actually also make for a fun caricature, I think! I feel like SSB fandom hasn't changed its tune because they're afraid FE characterizations will suck the fun out of everything, but you can do fun things with it too! (Then again, FE fandom has a hard enough time getting its own characters right!)
