I recently saw some kids making candles at a fair and the image stayed with me. (I would never be able to get a hand-dipped candle to come out looking as straight as the ones here; homemade ones generally end up really bumpy and wobbly.)
Yes, it's Lucius! I subscribe to the headcanon that he was the "father" who ran the orphanage in FE6; I like how it provides closure for his story, even if it is sad. (And the one you don't recognize is Chad. )
Sounds pretty legit to me. (Bleck I still haven't played FE6, I need to get on that one of these days...) Ah, Chad, right.
Heh, I'm a bit of a Canas fan much like how you like Lucius, myself.... In case you didn't notice by all the talk of dark ancient magics, heh. He may not be as strong as Lucius.. ~3~ But the Dark magics are cool... Q3Q
I am so happy that you're keeping it up to create and share your beautiful and colorful works with us! This scene is so lovely, and I really love their expressions and how their hair and the vase shine in the bright light. It's also really fascinating how you only use some colors and brush strokes and ready is your awesome looking stone wall! Incredible!!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your commenting about the wall since I was intending that the loose coloring would give an effective impression of the texture even without too much detail, so I'm glad it works that way for you! I'm glad you like the lighting and their expressions as well, thank you for viewing my work and leaving me these kind comments!
You are most welcome for everything! I'm not always commenting, but sometimes I simply can't resist because of the awesomeness I am allowed to see! I'm really looking up to you and your artistic skills.
would it lift the mood at all if I told you that more than one person on tumblr thought the candles were tampons
I actually love the theory that Lucius ran the FE6 kids' orphanage because it makes me really happy to imagine him taking care of Nino's twins and, even briefly, giving them the kind of care that he never had as a child. Despite how sadly that story ends, I still like it because it gives him closure. It's nice to have a sense of knowing what happened.
And hey, that also implies that Lucius's single ending is canon. Though most people just figure that in the paired one Raven helped him start the orphanage at some point anyway.
LMAO. I think I thought they were some kind of radish or something at first. Don't they talk about eating root vegetables?
Yes, definitely. Has anyone written on the orphanage's founding? I'm really interested in how Chad came into the picture, because it's implied he was the first one there, and I've wondered if he wasn't closer to Lucius than the others.
Fwiw, Raven ends up (supposedly) in Araphen for his single ending too, so there's that.
Hahaa, I was worried while I was drawing it that people wouldn't recognize what the candles were, but it didn't occur to me that they would interpret it that way. I'm glad in your case it was just radishes! (And yes, they do mention having a garden and living off the roots.)
I don't know, but that's a good point. I think there's a good argument to be made for Chad being closest to Lucius given that most of the information about "Father" comes from Chad's supports and he talks about how upset he was and wanting to avenge his death. I'd be curious to see a theory about Chad's backstory as well.
Ah yeah, that's true. I somehow always imagined him stopping in to see Lucius sometimes and then going off on journeys again.
I've heard theories of Chad being Matthew's son, but IMO that's rather tenuous and just seems like an excuse to tie in another FE7 character. No, I think he was just a kid living on the streets when Lucius found him-- but that in itself would be super interesting and poignant to read about. (or draw... hint hint :3)
I can understand why since they both have brown hair and red cloaks; it's easy to see a visual pattern between them... Is there anything to go on besides their looks? I suppose if you accept that theory, then you'd have to assume Serra is the mother since it's his only paired ending? The wiki says that the artbook mentions Chad coming from Sacae though, which seems to shoot down the theory since Matthew and Serra both seem pretty closely tied to Ostia.
