Lucius from Fire Emblem 7 with the orphans (left-to-right Raigh, Lugh, and Chad) from Fire Emblem 6. Raigh and Lugh's parents were people he once fought alongside in FE7's war, and he's now caring for them at his orphanage after their parents disappeared.

In retrospect, Fire Emblem 7 was a very sad game when you think of all those that didn't join your army in Fire Emblem 6. So many people gone missing (except for the ever happy couple Pent and Louise, but they're special together).

This is definitely a tribute to all of those parents and people.

Wow, this is amazing! Lucius was my favorite Fire Emblem character, and after looking into it, I realized he actually probably was the priest dude who dies in FE6.

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS! It's so wonderful! T^T

I haven't played any of the FE games and don't know the context of this piece, but I love the atmosphere of it. I can imagine a story here and it feels very alive, especially with your great use of colors! So nice!

Thank you very much for your kind comment; I'm really glad that even though you haven't played the game, you get a sense of atmosphere and story from the scene and colors! =) The context is that the front two kids' parents disappeared some time after they were born, and they're now being cared for by the owner of an orphanage who once fought alongside their parents in a war.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like them! =) Haha, I'm glad I can make you curious, though there are a lot more characters in them than the ones I usually draw. I highly recommend the older FE games (with the admission that I've only played around half of them myself) and I hope you enjoy them if you get a chance to try them out someday. They're more challenging and the support system is less accessible (unless you replay several times, you'll probably end up reading most of them online since you get limited supports per game), but the stories, characters, and gameplay definitely make them worth experiencing.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of great things about the older games. I actually found an emulator download package thing for FE 6, 7, and 8, but I haven't had time to download it yet. I'm really looking forward to it though...

This...this is so incredibly beautiful. The colours, the lighting is very well done, and the details are stunning--but the emotion in this piece is simply amazing. I can't even find the words to describe how powerful this artwork is.

Thank you so much for this comment, it means a lot to me that it has such a strong impact on you. I really appreciate your taking the time to try to share it with me; I'm very grateful I was able to convey the kind of emotion I wanted in this scene, thank you. I actually started this over half a year ago but left it lying around all that time because I wanted to get it right and I'm very happy I was able to show what I wanted with it.

You're welcome! That you spend the time to wait so that you could get this piece right is evident. I still can't find words, and usually words are my strong area (I used to write a lot of poetry, but it would take my some time to craft a poem that could do this artwork justice).

Thank you! I'm really glad the image makes an impact.

I'm actually more worried about Lucius's hair... Don't stand with your back to all those candles!! Jeez it was the first thing they told everyone in chemistry class, that any kids with long hair had to put it up before working with open flames. However in this universe we've got long-haired sages throwing fire magic around everywhere, so I think the laws of improbable anime hair apply. :P

OMG I SAW THE THUMBNAIL OF THIS AND WAS LIKE ......OMG
(I say omg wayy too much I'm so sorry)
Okay so firstly, I love these characters so I'm very happy. SECONDLY. ONCE AGAIN, THAT COLOURING AND ATMOSPHERE. Like, seriously, as if your works weren't already amazing enough, but I think you've really improved? Like I can't stop looking at the shading on the stone wall! I can't imagine how long that must have taken, or how long this whole piece must have taken! I really love the way you did the window and how solid the colouring on the darkness from the outside looks compared to the shaded indoor scene, and how the light lightly catches on the stones around the window. It looks reallyyy nice and very realistic. There are so many little details I keep seeing the more I look at it (I'm looking at all those belts on Chad's clothes ahh I love Fire Emblem designs, they take so long to draw but they're also so fun to draw!!) I like the way you did the wood stand with the book placed on top of it too. It looks really smooth and I like how dark the lineart is compared to the light colour of the wood. It gives a really nice texture!
And then the look on their faces I just kjsghskjdghs and looking at the title I'm like ;___________; THIS IS GIVING ME A LOT OF FEELINGS.
Anyway, basically I love this. Keep up the wonderful work, once again ;u;

Ahh no need to apologize, your messages are always welcome and I'm sorry for taking a long time to reply on my end! I really enjoy getting thoughtful comments, but sometimes I get stressed about replying to them in a timely manner, so thanks for your patience.

Thank you, I'm glad you like the coloring and atmosphere! Heh yeah actually I originally drew the lines for this over half a year ago and when I went back to the original drawing, I had to correct a bunch of mistakes. Stuff like detail in the shading is probably more just due to the fact that I spent more time on this than usual, though. At a certain point you have to make a decision about whether you'd rather produce more pictures at the cost of some detail, or fewer pictures with more detail... also generally whenever I do something like this it stresses me out and I go back to doodles for the next few months lol.

Yeah, I pretty much spent an entire day painting bricks haha, I'm glad the results are interesting enough to be worth the effort! (The whole thing probably took me around 25 hours.) Thank you for everything you pointed out; I'm really glad you like the window and I like that you mentioned the contrast of the dark outside against the rendered interior; that's not something I actually thought about myself but I do like to intentionally use solid dark or solid white to indicate prominent dark or bright areas, and let their simplicity balance out more detailed parts of images. I'm glad you find the lighting realistic and I'm happy you're enjoying looking for all the details, that makes it feel worthwhile to have put them in! (Also haha you enjoy drawing FE costumes... you belong in this fandom more than I do ahahA I like drawing really simple character designs but have the misfortune to get attached to JRPG characters who wear ridiculous quantities of belts...... I'm really happy Lucius's outfit is relatively simple but chAD)

Thank you, I'm really glad you noticed the stand and like how it came out, that makes me glad I took the time to add in that detail; I thought it added to the atmosphere of the room and is the kind of thing you'd find in a church. I'm really glad the expressions and title have the intended emotional impact, it means a lot to me that I was able to convey that here!!

Thank you very much for your long and thoughtful comment, I really appreciate your taking the time to look at this so carefully and point out so many things! :D

I take this one's a continuation to this pic? Because goodness, how it really turns the mood of the last one on it's head... the expressions make this a very quiet and somber moment. Lucius's unusually melancholic gaze from thinking of the tragedy befallen on these children tucks me right at the heartstrings.

Also, the way you drew lighting from the candles give this pic a further sense of three-dimensionality as they reflect on to the characters. Really loved how you delivered these, it's going to leave pretty lasting impact for a while

(Hey, do ya want to tell how you progress with coloring? The way you colored the walls looks interesting... also do you start from the foreground to background or vice versa? Also I wonder about the color scheme, something about it doesn't leave much of an impression... perhaps I think more of dark-bluish colors when seeing scenes like these?

FE6-backstories though, they're such big sadness fuel at times, waugh - (-i~i) )

Yeah, I originally planned to post this right after that one, but then spent a while figuring out how to approach it... and the cheerful responses to the last one made me pause a bit about giving people that mood whiplash so soon, heh. I'm glad you think the expressions convey the seriousness of the situation and that you like the lighting, thank you.

I colored the background first and then the characters. I don't think it matters which one I start with, but it does help to have a rough layout of how it'll all look together before starting to add detail. I did wrestle with the palette on this one and actually there were originally intended to be more dark blues in it, but I decided to go with the version I liked best.
