Knowing you'll always be welcome, no matter how much has changed... That's what having a home is all about.
Vanille was my favorite character when I first played XIII. She seemed typical at first, but her backstory was arguably the most developed of anyone in the party, and I tend to like the bouncy cheerful characters. I also tend to like characters that are closest to nature, and Vanille’s attachment to her home in the wilderness endeared her to me. (Plus I’ve already mentioned my inclination towards young mage types.) I really like looking at all the Gran Pulse outfits because of the bright colors and detailed beadwork and accessories, and Gran Pulse itself was beautiful. I know the exploration in XIII was limited, but for me the scenery almost made up for it; wandering around the vast universes of Final Fantasy games was always what drew me to them, and as someone who hadn’t played an FF since the PS1 generation, seeing one of those universes brought to life with high-definition art was pretty amazing in itself.
Giant, savage wolf-creatures, behemoths with swords growing on their backs, wyverns with a second mouth for a butt-hole, pudding-creatures looking like sand, water or tomatoes(?), pesky mining-automatons going haywire from time to time, titanic tortoises that towers over elephants, and of course, legions of the damned prowling till their deeds be undone. All that aside, I wouldn't mind spending some of my spare time camping around this world. Gran Pulse is really beautiful after all.
Haha, that about sums it up. Though I'd assume that if you managed to make it as far as Gran Pulse, you'd be equipped to deal with all that, so there'd be nothing stopping you from enjoying the scenery... at least until you get caught off guard by a Long Gui.
Cutest Vanille fanart so far!
