Sometimes when people stop responding to messages for almost two weeks, they come back with a really good excuse for why they were gone, such as, say, getting way ahead on NaNoWriMo and striking a book deal before the month is up. I always have to say things like, “Sorry, I got addicted to Fire Emblem,” and this is why I don’t function in normal society.

I should really talk about Fire Emblem more often because it’s one of my all-time favorite game series, and Blazing Sword is definitely my favorite of the ones I’ve played (7, 8, 9, and 10). Fire Emblem has this perfect mix of compelling strategy gaming, beautiful official art, and enjoyable characters that makes it incredibly addictive to me, which is why in retrospect it was a really bad idea to procrastinate on NaNo by starting FE7 over from the beginning, because I ended up not getting anything written until I had finished the whole game.

Lucius is my favorite character in the series because I’ve always had a preference for healer/priest types of classes, and when this is paired with a calm and benevolent personality as well as the capability to be an awesome magic user in a fight, that’s pretty much the formula for earning my respect. I like Nils and Ninian mostly because they have blue hair, and also because secretly being a dragon is cool.

This looks so peaceful. I wouldn't mind being there to read a book! In my various playthroughs, Lucius was always one of my best magic users. Great picture, just lovely.
