Skyward Sword comes out in late November! Who’s excited?
For some reason I haven’t seen any fanart of the Siren World yet, so I figured I’d go ahead and be one of the first to do a picture, before better screenshots come out and everyone starts drawing it. (Plus, since no one has a comprehensive idea of what SS’s overworld looks like yet, I can go ahead and slap a giant waterfall in the middle of it just because I like drawing giant waterfalls.) Anyway, this was just a quick experiment; I wanted it to have a simple storybook-illustration feel with a painted look to suit the SS art style. (Also, as far as I can tell the Siren World makes people glow. The sparkles are not to be questioned.)
I’m still trying not to form a definite opinion on the SS ingame art style until I see it in motion on my own screen. It’s certainly been polished since it was first shown and I’ve seen quite a few pictures where it looks good, but there are a few reasons that I’m still not wholeheartedly enthusiastic about it, one of the primary ones being that a lot of the designs seem to be significantly inspired by TP, and I wasn’t a fan of TP’s art direction. I’m also skeptical of the colors—for all their brightness, they tend to look washed out in the same way that TP did, and the palette looks a bit incohesive in some areas—but the official art looks great and I like the idea of a painted look; I just have yet to be blown away by its execution.
The more I hear about SS, the more it sounds to me like the developers are taking significant ideas from its predecessors and combining them into one grand adventure, and the more curious I get about what the results are going to look like. I’m definitely excited—for the motion controls, for a new overworld, for more challenging combat, for the orchestrated music, and above all for a new console Zelda—but I’m not expecting this to be a completely new, completely overhauled Zelda experience like the marketers seem to want us to think. I’m expecting that for the most part it’ll be exploring concepts that were introduced in previous games, and I’m eager to see how this title shapes up to fit in with the rest of the series.
Now its finally out. You know its called the Silent Realm, right? Not the siren world :c I dunno, correct me if Im wrong.. Maybe there's two ways to say it. Either way, I like this picture Nice job
