I have spent this past week and a half trying to finish a fanart for Skyward Sword so that I could talk about it in the artist's comments (because clearly I can't write a blog about it like a normal person). Now that I finally have to write this, though, the only thing running through my head is “The beetle is the coolest new item!”
Seriously, beetles are awesome. I am going to buy this just for the beetle. Sorry Agitha, but none of your bugs could even compete.
Well, really I’m going to buy this because it’s Zelda and I know I’m going to enjoy it. The controls sound like they’re going to be a lot of fun to use and should add a new level of challenge to fights. While I’m not sure how long the novelty of 1:1 motion control will last, I’m expecting to see plenty of bosses that’ll keep things interesting by requiring innovative uses of the Wiimote, and the mere fact that your ingame sword mimics your movements in the real world should make the experience more immersive… Who am I kidding? I can’t wait to play this game.
I said I’d be thrilled on the day that a new console cel-shaded Zelda game was announced, and while this isn’t true cel-shading, these visuals have a promise of being the kind of creative and unique style I’d like to see in Zelda games. I admit I wasn’t at all impressed when I first saw them in a low-quality capture of the trailer, where the colors seemed to blend into each other and appear dull, but after seeing screenshots I’m much more interested in the art direction of this game. Most of my reservations hinged on the thought that they might be trying to blend TP and WW in another misguided attempt to please everyone without establishing the game’s own unique character, but while the TP influence is obvious in the graphics, I’m intrigued by the painterly style that’s been applied to it and hoping for the best. I’d still like to see the visuals polished further before the release, and I’m not overly impressed by the few enemy designs that have been shown (particularly the red Bokoblins)—they remind me of TP’s monster designs, which I found too generic to be interesting—but the art style promises the kind of vibrancy that I imagine when I think of Zelda environments. I can’t wait to see how the larger areas of the game look.
I always terrorise Technoblins by bombing them
I swear to God that the Technoblins are the most annoying common enemy
